  • Tigers show promise at Tim French Tournament this past weekend at University Heights. This season the Tigers have 12 guys replacing the nine 8th graders from last year. All but 2 wrestled in the 2009/2010 season. We weren’t sure how they would do competing at a tough tournament with never really being exposed to this level of competition. Over all 5 of the 12 finished in the top 5. At 70 Kaleb Hammons finished second after getting caught in the finals in a match he was winning. At 75 Peyton Miles a first year wrestler showed a lot of heart in a comeback win to get to the third and fourth place round. Miles finished 4th place. At 89 Nick Kramer also a fist year wrestler for the Tigers was unable to overcome the experience he faced, but looks to improve from his two losses in the tournament. Dylan Gray wrestled 96 and finished 4th place. Dylan had a first round loss but was able to over come it with 4 consecutive wins before losing again for third. At 103 the Tigers had three new wrestlers Chayton Wells, Boyce Nichols, and Bryce Davis. All three had two loses in the first two rounds, but once the guys get a little experience behind them that will all change. Another first year wrestler to the Tiger program Dalton Hembree was at 110, and was also out matched due to experience and went 0-2 for the day. Dalton continues to improve and we look for big things from him as the year goes on. Dillon Lewis lost a close match to get to 3rd and 4th place finish and finished the day in 5th place. Dillon also joins the group of new wrestlers to the program. At 124 Daniel Moll went 0-2 along with Austin Hardrick at 140, both first year guys. Overall we were really pleased with their performance, we are very young and lack the experience on the mat right now but as the year progresses on these guys will only get better.
